Happy top of the week to you!
Are you headed to the job of your dreams? The career you've always envisioned? Does your morning coffee taste different because you know you're making a difference doing what you love? Give it a thought.
I was speaking with one of our clients recently about her dissatisfaction with her employer and overall work environment. It has begun to make her sick, sad and verbally aggressive in the workplace. When we first met a couple months ago, she had expressed her displeasure with her situation, and how much stress it had caused in her life. This woman is bubbly, determined and very intelligent. I've quite honestly never seen her without a smile on her face.
But I haven't seen it recently. In fact, I haven't seen her at all. She has been spending more time at this job that does not serve her.
It made me wondered why in her line of expertise, she was opting to remain with the same company in an effort to climb the ladder, though she was being put through the ringer and not even receiving compensation to be able to argue staying.
Why do we stay?
Jobs, friendships, intimate relationships, hell, hairdressers and personal trainers? Maybe things will change. Maybe she will see my worth eventually. Maybe he didn't mean it. Maybe I can change him/her. Maybe, maybe, maybe...You tell me the last time you had control over maybe, and let me know how that worked out for you.
What we do have control of is ourselves. Our decisions. Our impact on others. Respect and appreciation for our life and God-given talents.
I welcome every Monday with excitement, because I'm doing what I love. Is it easy? No way! But I know it feeds me, and I am making a difference in this world. I owe it to myself and to this lifetime to do right by me.
I made the decision approximately 13 years ago to only do what I enjoy, and the level of enjoyment has only grown over time. Sure, my family thought I was nuts at times, that I was merely blowing with the wind. But I knew when something didn't fit. And when it didn't, I was off, in search of what did.
Sit yourself down and have a loving, honest conversation about what you truly enjoy doing.
Consider how this positively affects others.
Visualize how this perfect scenario looks and feels.
Write it down.
Each day, take a step toward this vision.
In fact, do this for every area of your life. Take a section at a time, and plug away. This intention may seem small, but the Universe responds immediately once you set an intention.
"It's okay to feel good. We don't have to analyze, judge, or justify. We don't have to bring ourselves down, or let others bring us down, by injecting negativity."
" Today, I remind myself that it is my right to feel as good as I can. I have many moments of feeling good; I find a balanced place of feeling content, peaceful, and good."
